Be Individually Fashionable

From the day we are born, most people strive to be individuals. They want to stand out from the crowd, they want to be considered different. When we are young and have achieved so little in terms of personal success, we place much more importance on things like popularity and attitude. Guys are often judged by the girls that they date, and so place probably too much emphasis on superficial values. Girls want to be made distinctive and sometimes adopt outspoken attitudes just to be recognized. As we get older and start achieving more in terms of academia, travel and careers there are more ways to make ourselves individuals. More ways to back up our achievements and make us stand out. The jobs we have come to define us and the money we make often dictates the types of lives we are able to lead.

There are however a few ways to stand out amongst a crowd that don't require much money or achievement. They are things we can do throughout our entire lives and never really get old or tired. One of these things is fashion. A person's fashion defines who they are, how they feel, where they feel they fit in. Fashion is a form of self expression, where every day is different. And while fashion trends may change with every new season, a person with style will always have style.

One can always identify those people who are concerned by fashion and not afraid to take risks. They are usually the ones who dared to be different in primary school, walked to the beat of their own drum in secondary school and were paving the fashion road all through university. As working professionals they have accumulated enough priceless pieces that no matter where they work they will create outfits that fit the dress code while still standing out. Having style is first and foremost attributed to being interested in fashion but also being interested in other forms of art. After all, fashion designers are influenced by everything from architecture to food, to politics and fine arts.

Being an individual comes down to doing what you want and love and doing it with conviction. It means following your passions even if it feels like they might not take you anywhere. It means wearing something bold even if people are staring at you in the street. It means daring to be different and in doing so making other people want to follow your lead.
