The change of season can do a few things to our minds and bodies. Some people bring in the new season with a bit of a cold or flu, our body's way of reacting to the change of temperature, some people bring it in with a shopping spree, and some with a bit of a closet and house cleanout. The beginning of spring means that people can start putting away their winter gear and opening up their gardens. They can bring out their barbeques and sweep away the dead fallen leaves of winter. A proper spring cleaning involves:
1. Clearing out your closet:
After a long winter, it's always nice to put away your heavy coats and take out your summer clothes. Hello sandals, shorts, sunglasses and bathing suits, goodbye pullovers, ski socks and winter boots. The change of season often makes us want to go shopping, after all the clothes we wore last summer couldn't possibly still be in style? If money is tight, then I always recommend re-trying on your clothes as you reorganize them. Do this while flipping through your most trusted fashion magazine, and you're bound to find that a lot of your pieces can be used to create current looks.
2. Opening up your garden:
When the weather is nice, most people want to spend as much time as possible outdoors. If you have the space, you might want to buy some patio furniture and a barbeque to entertain with. Some amount of cleaning is usually in order, so be prepared to get a little dirty. For people who love to plant, you might want to take a trip to your favourite nursery and buy a few bulbs and some seeds. Maybe this will be the year that you finally grow that vegetable garden you've been wanting. And don't forget to prune your trees and bushes. If it seems like too much work, call the experts.
3. Get fit:
Warm weather means less clothing, which means you have less to hide the extra kgs you put on over the winter with. Think of getting fit as your body's spring cleaning. If you don't have money to join a gym then you can go for runs outside, or play sports with friends. Something about the heat also makes people want to eat less heavy, warm and fattening foods, and more light, cold, salads.
How are you going to prepare for the season?
